Media Accreditation

All media members wishing to cover the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Ibaraki and its related meetings must apply for Media Organization Registration and Media Personnel Application and obtain an official G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba media accreditation (Media ID Badge). Applications for Media ID Badges should be made within the time period specified below for all individuals (including reporters, photographers, etc.), otherwise coverage will not be allowed.

Registration

1) Media Organization Registration: April 19 (Friday) - May 10 (Friday)
2) Media Personnel Application (Media ID Badge): May 7 (Tuesday) - May 21 (Tuesday)

Application process (from request to issuance of Media ID Badge)

  1. Media Organization Registration
    Please assign one person (Application Manager) to be in charge of the registration of your media organization.
    Freelance journalists should apply through their affiliated media organizations.
    (Unaffiliated freelance journalists should apply for Media Organization Registration individually.)
  2. Media Personnel Application URL access permission
    Once their media organization has been successfully registered and approved an e-mail with the link to the Media Personnel Application website along with a login ID and password will be sent to the Application Manager.
    Notification e-mails will be sent sequentially from May 7 (Tuesday).
  3. Media Personnel Application
    Please use the login ID and password noted in the e-mail to access the Media Personnel Application website, and register all individual reporters from your media organization who need a Media ID Badge.
    Unaffiliated freelance journalists should register their individual information again.
  4. Registration confirmation
    Once the registration of each individual reporter has been successfully registered and approved, confirmation e-mails will be sent to each individual reporter.
    Please be sure to check your registered information in the confirmation e-mail and save the e-mail, as you will need this confirmation e-mail to receive your Media ID Badge.
  5. Issuance of Media ID Badges
    Issuance of Media ID Badges will take place at the Press Center from June 7 (Friday).
    Please be sure to present the following items upon arrival.
    Verification of the following items are required upon issuance of Media ID Badges;
    Domestic reporters
    1) A printout of registration confirmation e-mail
    2) Photo ID (Employee ID card or press ID card with photo, driver's license, passport etc.).
    Foreign reporters
    1) A printout of registration confirmation e-mail
    2) Passport

Required Documents

1) Media Organization Registration
  • Certificate of employment of the Application Manager (Japanese or English only).
    * Should be issued by organization representative or personnel department.
    * Should be sealed with an official seal which has the company name.
    * Should include a name, position, department, and proof of enrollment.
    * Should be dated.
    * Unaffiliated freelance journalists are required a letter of recommendation from a media organization or governmental organization or the most recent article published within the past 6 months.
2) Media Personnel Application
  • Facial photograph data for Media ID Badge (JPEG, PNG or BMP, within H400 * W300 pixel, within 1MB)
  • Employee ID card or press ID card with photo (PDF, JPEG, PNG or BMP, within 1MB)
    * Valid until the end date of the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Ibaraki (June 9, 2019).
    * Freelance journalists affiliated to a media organization are required to present a letter of commission from their media organization (Japanese or English only).
    * Unaffiliated freelance journalists are required to present a letter of recommendation from a media organization or governmental organization or the most recent article published within the past 6 months.

Press Center

Assistance services for media covering the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Ibaraki will be available at the Press Center.

* Operating time will be provided to relevant media in due course.

Press Center Access

Access to the Press Center is limited to holders of the Media ID Badge for the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Ibaraki.

Media Guidelines

Pertinent information about media coverage and media guidelines will be provided to relevant media in due course.

Accommodation

Please arrange your accommodation by yourself.
You are free to stay at any hotel of your choice, but, for example, the following hotels will be available during the period of the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Ibaraki from May 13 (Monday).
As rooms at these hotels are limited and there are no distinction between officials and public, it is recommended to arrange accommodations early.

Shuttle Bus

There will be free shuttle buses for media members covering the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Ibaraki and its related events.
Please present Media ID Badge when you get on the bus. Media members who have not yet received Media ID Badge are requested to present ①a printout of registration confirmation e-mail which was sent when each individual reporter has been successfully registered and approved and ②Passport.
Pertinent information about shuttle buses will be provided to relevant media in due course.

Notes

  • Due to security reasons, requests for and issuance of new Media ID Badges will not be accepted at the Press Center.
  • Due to capacity limitations and for security reasons, there is a possibility that the number of media personnel for programs for the G20 Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Digital Economy in Tsukuba, Ibaraki will be adjusted. Pertinent information concerning media coverage will be made available to the relevant media organizations in due course.
  • Application for and issuance of Media ID Badges do not support or guarantee the acquisition of a visa or entrance to Japan.
